General Information

Gazi University, Faculty of Architecture is comprised of three Departments: Architecture, City and Regional Planning and Industrial Design. Each department offers undergraduate and graduate study programs of about 2,000 students. As of 2020-2021, the Faculty has 1.484 undergraduate students; 664 in the Department of Architecture, 406 in the Department of City and Regional Planning, and 98 in the Department of Industrial Design. In addition, 243 graduate students (154 Masters and 89 PhD students) in the Department of Architecture, 165 graduate students (109 Masters and 56 PhD students) in the Department of City and Regional Planning and 80 graduate students (55 Masters and 25 PhD students) in the Department of Industrial Design, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences.

Zafer College of Engineering and Architecture, founded in 1966 and Yükseliş College School of Architecture, founded in 1967 were united in 1971 and established as ADMMA (Ankara State Academy of Engineering and Architecture). ADMMA was incorporated into Gazi University with as Gazi University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture in 1982. According to the additional article numbered 30 of the Law No 2809, dated 28.03.1983, the Faculty took the name of Faculty of Architecture on 02.09.2009.

Faculty of Architecture continues education in the same building with the Faculty of Engineering in Maltepe Campus. The Faculty has 70.000 m² indoor space shared with the Faculty of Engineering, and this space has increased to 83.000 m² with the construction of 3 gymnasiums covering an area of 4.500 m², 2 dining halls of 2.500 m², 150 m² student cafeteria and 2 parking garages of 6.000 m².

Gazi University Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture ranks 7ᵗʰ among 44 state universities with a base score of 437,471 points, Gazi University Department of City and Regional Planning ranks 8ᵗʰ among 20 state universities with a base score of 285,953 points, and Gazi University Department of Industrial Design ranks 7ᵗʰ among 16 state universities with a base score of 321,254 points. According to the 2020 University Entrance success ratings the Department of Architecture admits students who ranks over 51,600, the Department of City and Regional Planning 244,184 and the Department of Industrial Design 201,240.

The Faculty has strong relations with the international community in Turkey. 5% of the students are foreigners and 30% of the courses are taught in English. The Architecture and City and Regional Planning Departments also have English graduate programs where 100% of the courses are in English.
